The Importance of Diversifying Your Social Media Presence.

Today we’re going to talk about diversifying your social media presence and the importance of having multiple platforms that also showcase more than just your spicy side. This blog will include a bulleted list of things you can do, so make sure you read all the way through.

One of the biggest struggles we face as sex workers on the internet is deplatforming. Losing your main source of traffic means starting that platform all over again. Which is why its important not to put all of your eggs in one basket.

Diversifying your social media presence involves spreading your online presence across multiple social media platforms to reach a broader and more varied audience. This strategy can be beneficial for anyone looking to enhance their online visibility, engage with different demographics, and mitigate risks associated with platform-specific changes or issues. Here are some key aspects to consider when diversifying your social media presence:

As a content creator you should have at the least two instagram accounts, one as a back up that you post to semi regularly and a main that is posted to on a regular schedule. You should have a tiktok that you post to regularly and a twitter account. These are the big three that are the easiest to gain traffic from. You can also expand into YouTube and Reddit. Both of these require a lot more work to gain traffic from but the pay off can be worth the work if utilized correctly.

How I diversify

I started writing this blog last week, literally a day before my main instagram account was banned… again. Thankfully because I have experienced this before I had already taken steps months ago to make sure my income would not be drastically effected if I lost another account. Why did instagram ban my account, you ask? Not freaking idea! Something about explicit content, but if you’ve seen my instagram, you know that’s bullsh——

Anyways. Diversify your portfolio!

Make sure you always have a minimum of two instagram accounts, three to be safe. One you post to regularly and is only used for SFW content. I barely post bikinis or lingerie anymore because I get flat out flagged for explicit content.

The second one you’ll post to less regularly. For my main account I post daily except for Tuesdays and Sundays, these are low traffic days, its a waste of content. Check your analytics to see when you can take a day off from posting.

On my backup I post a couple of times a week, no real schedule. I just want to make sure there’s enough going on there to keep followers coming in.

I do have a third account (now my second) and that one I post to once in a blue moon. Its really just there for emergencies.

Another thing I do to diversify is I’ll post slightly more sexy stuff on my back up. After all, its the back up so I’m not the most concerned about losing it. And I still want people to know I do sell sexy content. So my backups are used a little more freely than my main. My main will always be curated however.

Okay so that’s diversifying your instagram. What else can you do? Well, you should have a tiktok account, two if you can manage it. Make your tiktok fun and sexy but again stay within the community guidelines. Especially on tiktok. They’re strict AF about that. I use one tiktok account to just post thirst trap content. The other one is specific to a topic: talking about my move to Ecuador. This is my attempt at finally being able to talk about all the things I love about where I live and trying to get some brand deals with companies here in Ecuador. I do this for two reasons; we want the thirst trap content, we also want to be known more than for just our sites. Being known for more than just our spicy sites helps us land collaboration deals that could lead to more income off platforms. The whole goal with doing this type of work, at least for me, is to be independent from a regular 9-5. So diversifying our niches and content means we can make even more money, without necessarily having to take our clothes off.

Tips for Diversifying

To simplify things a little bit for you I’m going to include a short list of strategies you can implement to help diversify your social media and not only decrease your chances of being totally derailed by being deplatformed, but also help reach a broader audience

Consistent Branding:

  • Maintain a consistent brand image and messaging across all platforms. This helps build a recognizable and coherent online presence.

  • Use the same profile picture, cover photo, and brand colors to create a unified look and feel.

Tailored Content:

  • Adapt your content to fit each platform's unique strengths and user expectations. For example, Instagram is visual-centric, while Twitter focuses on short-form text and news.

  • Consider the preferences and behaviors of the audience on each platform when creating and sharing content.

Cross-Promotion:

  • Cross-promote your social media accounts to encourage followers on one platform to connect with you on others. Mention and link to your other profiles in your bio or posts.

  • Promote exclusive content or giveaways on one platform to incentivize users to follow you on others.

Content Repurposing:

  • Repurpose content across different platforms by modifying it to suit the format and audience. For example, you can turn a blog post into an infographic for Instagram or a video for YouTube.

  • Ensure that repurposed content remains relevant and valuable to the audience on each platform.

Adaptation and Flexibility:

  • Stay updated on trends and changes in the social media landscape. Be prepared to adapt your strategy to new platforms or shifts in user behavior.

  • Consider the long-term sustainability of each platform and be ready to pivot if necessary.
